Best Movie of 2005

Since everybody is doing their top 10 movies of 2005, I will do mine on my BLOG!

2046 - Visually engaging and the characters are intriguing. Complex plot but the love story of longing is very refreshing. I felt miserable and happy at same time.
Constant Gardener - One of the best of 2005 that people have never heard of. Although colorful, the imagery of Africa left me in a daze -- naturally beautiful but so much human misery. Very sad movie!
Munich - Spielbergism - when Spielberg makes his movie 1 hour longer than normal. He only made this movie 15 minutes longer than it should. And it’s really good.
Charlie and Chocolate Factory - the oompa loompa music scenes are my favorite!
Batman - the best Batman movie ever.
Oldboy - this is my favorite movie of 2005. the ending is shocking; the torture that the protagonist endured is unimaginable. Oh, and the fight scenes are insane!
Crash - Los Angeles freeways and streets is a perfect allegory for racial tensions in this un-melting pot culture of Blacks, Whites, Asians, and Middle Easterners (ok, Persians too).
Layer Cake - the cars are cool, the clothes are cool, and the music is cool. this movie just breaths cool.
Syriana – Purposely complex and I don’t know if I was able to put all the stories together but the price of greed and oil is shown through myriads characters, race, and social class.
Kung Fu Hustle – best comedy and martial arts movie of 2005.

*Note – I have not seen King Kong, Brokeback Mountain, Match Point, Squid and Whale.

Movie Quotes

“Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off, but it’s better if they do.”

This poignant retort from Natalie Portman’s character to Clive Owen's character is a perfect example how how dishonest and detestable each of the main characters in this movie. But the realism of the characters, made Closer one of my favorite movie of 2004.

Thanksgiving 2005

Well we decided to order our Thanksgiving meal from Claim Jumper. No pictures but here are the food item w/ comments:
Turkey - 12 lbs, very good, we still had to warm it up for 1.25 hour.
Salad - spinach and such... i didn't eat it.
Greens - string beans... didnt like it.
Gravy - good but they only gave us 2 small cups for party of 10 guests.
Bread - typical Claim Jumper bread. very good
Pumpkin Pie - had a slice, was not impress.
Mashed Potato - had to warm it up, but didnt follow the direction so it was still cold in the middle. but it was tasty!
Stuffings - alright.

Overall: i will give it a thumbs up, but for $160, I think I might have paid too much. Too bad I have no pictures to show. :)

Happy Holidays!
